A “Same Dimension” Sparse Estimation Method for Radar Target Parameter in Mainlobe Jamming

Abstract:The suppression of mainlobe jamming (MLJ) is a hard task and an open problem in the radar field,and it brings a big challenge for radar target detection,tracking,and identification.Hence,we propose a "same dimension" sparse estimation method for radar target parameter in MLJ.The proposed method can effectively suppress the MLJ and simultaneously estimate the target range and angle.Precisely,the block matrix preprocessing (BMP) algorithm is adopted to suppress the MLJ,and the target angle information can be hold on.Then the target range is estimated effectively through the beamforming and pulse compression.According to the target range estimation result,the preprocessed data should be intercepted as training samples for the target angle estimation.The proposed method can be applied for linear array and planar array.It is worth pointing out that the proposed method can effectively estimate the target azimuth and elevation simultaneously when the target azimuth (or elevation) equals to the jamming azimuth (or elevation).
