Abstract：A dispersed-pulse CELP (DP-CELP) speech coding algorithm is proposed.The excitation is generated by means of convoluting the algebraic codevector with a fixed dispersion pulse.The constructed speech quality is efficiently improved with this excitation,but the search complexity for algebraic codebook not increased.The informal subjective test shows that the speech quality for this DP-CELP algorithm at 4 kb/s closes to that of a G.723.1 codec at 6.3 kb/s.
