Sensor management can be described as a system or process that provides automatic or semi-automatic control of a suite of sensors or measurement devices

it improves the performance of sensing and gives an effective usage of resources.This paper presents a general optimization model of sensor managemt and a new method is provided which is based on covariance control and manage sensor allocation by making the actual covariance matrix close to the desired one.This paper presents an analysis of covariance control for allocating sensing resources in centralized multisensor target tracking systems.Three sensor allocation algorithms are presented based on different matrix metrics.Simulation results show that this algorithm based on covariance control can allocate sensors effectively and save much more sensor resources.
