A non-Euclidean metric which is "capacity Rule" and "mapping Rule" for the design of optimal MLC scheme over mobile fading channels is proposed.For AWGN channels
it is "capacity rule" and "UP rule".For Rayleigh fading channels
it is "capacity rule" and "BP rule".Directed by this theory
the performance of three levels multilevel coding with multistage decoding (MLC/MSD) scheme in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels is simulated.In which BCH codes with different code lengths are chosen as component codes
and three mapping strategies with 8ASK modulation are used.
