An Application Study of the Resonant Quadrifilar Helix Antenna in Low Orbit Micro-Satellite Communication
The resonant quadrifilar helix antennas have been widely applied to space communication links because of its relatively small volume and light weight plus its capability of providing shaped-conical beam
end-fire radiation without requiring a ground plane. The paper designs two actual resonant quadrifilar helix antennas with a novel 90°self-phased feed structure and a special infinite balun. The actual antennas are simulated by the finite element method. The simulation resultwell fits the measured data.
