Exact Moment-Matching Model of RLC Transmission Lines and Its Application to Interconnect Delay Estimation
Moment-matching is a widely used technique in analysis
design
and fast evaluation of signal transmission performance of interconnects in today's deep submicrometer VLSI design. The construction of exact moment-matching models for distributed RLC transmission lines involves a tedious and complicated procedure using previous methods. This paper provides a simple approach to derive such models based upon observations on the Maclaurin expansion of the ABCD matrix of the transmission line.In addition
a new method is proposed for the interconnects delay estimation
which can be used not only to the common second order model
