An Efficient Approach for Reducing the Side Lobe Levels of Array-Fed Reflector Satellite Shaped-Beam Antennas
To decrease the ever-increasing interferences from adjacent satellites
array-fed reflector satellite shaped-beam antennas are always required to produce as low sidelobe levels as possible. However
it is often difficult to realize this requirement for traditional beam-shaping methods
for which often suffer from repeated adjustment of the number and the locations of constraints before satisfactory results are obtained. Thus in this paper
based on the frequency-domain principle of pattern multiplication
an efficient approach is presented for array-fed reflector antennas
which can realize good sidelobe performance simply by using relatively narrower spot beams in the calculation of the optimal excitations but actual spot beams for the radiation patterns of the antenna.Since this approach only need adjust the locations of a few constraints
it can efficiently give shaped beams with satisfactory sidelobe levels.
