A new method to design and analyse a wideband splitter is presented. Two ways are put forward:one is using continuously tapered line instead of an excessive impedance convertor
the other is using parallel coupled-strip line to design the wide band splitter. At the same time the scatter matrix of the wide band splitter is simulated by the finite element method and tested. The experimental results show that the performances of the frequency range from 2GHz to 18GHz of this wide band splitter are satisfactory. The splitters with asymmetrical magnitude are designed using this method and their scatter matrixes are simulated by the finite element method. The results show that this method realizes the wide band splitters of the superior coherence in equiphase with the magnitude of asymmetrical power division.
