An effective method of calculating and eliminating the multiple-access interference (MAI) introduced by the pilot signal in cdma2000 systems is presented in this paper. Its applications to single-cell and multi-cell environments are also described.Computer simulations show that the RAKE receiver with the proposed pilot cancellation scheme can not only ensure the accuracy of channel estimation and combine separable multi-path components but also effectively eliminate the MAI due to the pilot signal. So the system performance is greatly improved.Besides
pilot cancellation at symbol rate leads to relatively low hardware complexity in its implementation for practical systems.
