High performance CSCW applications(Synchronous distributed CSCW multimedia applications) are most complicated among all kinds of CSCW applications. They require not only multipoint multimedia real-time transmission
but also many control and management issues. ATM network offers many attractive features to multimedia communications
such as flexible bandwidth allocation and QoS control mechanisms. This paper presents a new ATM-based CSCW multimedia group communications architecture in order to effectively exploit all benefits of ATM. The architecture complies with B-ISDN protocol reference model and separates control (signaling)
