The coventional clutter map CFAR method is often used to detect targets in a temporally stationary and spatially nonhomogeneous background. It averages radar returns temporally over several radar scans to form estimates of the mean background level for each clutter map cell. so it’s called as clutter map CFAR point technique. A new approach of clutter map CFAR plane technique was proposed by Shen Fuming[1]
which can be applied in a temporally and spacially homogeneous background. and is called plane technique. An analytic expression of detection performance of this technique is derived
and a performance comparison to clutter map point method is also given. It’s shown that the performance of plane technique is superior to that point method in a temporally and spatially homogeneous background.
