In this paper trellis-coded modulation(TCM)is applied to direct sequence spread spectrum multiple access (DS/SSMA)system over urban multipath fading channel. Based on the model of such a channel under DS conditions
we propose a new way which combines the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation to investigate the characteristics of TCM DS/SSMA systems and compare the performance of the DS/SSMA system with TCM of Ungerboeck's type and those of the systems with TCM of lower coding rate.
