Abstract
The principle of digital signal processing exploited in the engineering development of speech synthesizer Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) is reviewed in this paper. The work uses Adaptive Delta Modulation (ADM) to realize speech waveform coding and digital data compression. By employing semi-custom standard cell layout and CMOS process technology
the work achieves a speech synthesizer chip with 32kb on-chip ROM for 6 seconds speech duration.
