In this paper
we present a new placement algorithm with multiple target shapes. It includes the creation of the clustering tree
the generation of the multiple target shapes
the selection for the objective functions
the placement scheme and its contribution to BBL (building block layout) placement. The approach was programmed by C language on SUN
HP
GPX and VAX in 1989. It is a sub-system of PANDA. Some examples (total 33) from industrial and our benchmark are tested. The solutions are very encouraging in comparison with the ones of BEAR developed by U.C. Berkeley.
