Abstract
In this paper
the nonintrinsic loss caused by random microbend for single-mode step-index fibers is researched using the coupled mode theory under the following conditions: (1) Not considering the effect of fiber core on shape of field of cladding mode LP1j (2) considering the above-mentioned effect. We assume that the autocorrelation function of random microbend of fibers is Gaussian.This method canbe extended to study the nonintrinsic loss caused by other geometry or refractive-index deforming fibers.
