In this paper the definition of bioelectronics and a survey on the related research areas are proposed firstly. Then some research topics are introduced

especially those which have developed quickly in recent years and in which a direct interaction exists between electronics and life science

not limited to applying engineering to biology and medicine. It is shown that bioelectronics as a new discipline is very important for the future development of science and technology.
