A new transform convolution is developed to reconstruct the 2-D picture from projection data. Projection data is obtained from an integration of the reflectivity coefficients of the objects along the circular arc of the wavefront with a radar beamwidth. Such a circular arc is encountered when ground-based radar is used to observe planets
asteroids
or even comets if the Earth’s rotational velocity is large compared to the gross movement of the target. It is expected that the new algorithm can be used to reconstruct images for the curvature of the wavefront.
