The geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) is used to analyse the principal plane far-field radiation patterns of a shaped subreflector with a conical flange attachment fed by primary feed located at its caustic region. The nonaxial diffraction field and the diffraction field in its axial caustic region are evaluated. In addition to the geometrical optics field from the shaped subreflector and its flange
the diffractions from the wedge formed between the shaped subreflector and the conical flange as well as that of the flange edge are considered. The principal radius of the curvature of the subreflector surface is determined. The computational results show good agreement with experiments.
