A theoretical and experimental study is conducted for the compact resonance cavity for hydrogen maser. The mothed of variation is used to calculate the upper and lower limits of cut-off wave numbers in circular wave guides loaded with metallic sheets
yielding f0
Q0 and η’ of loaded circular cavities. The results of calculation are found well consistent with those of experiment
and hence are useful in cavity design. Some of the conclusions obtained are different from those of other authors.
