Abstract

The latest international research trend in DBMS is to go beyond specific data models toward the common DB system construction. After a detailed analysis of ANSI/SPARC and Paolo Paolini’s general structures

this paper introduces the concept of abstract operation

under which a variety of specific data models can be unified on the "internal schema-conceptual schema-abstract operation" structure.
