The emission properties of the following rare earth metal compounds have been studied
including their preparation
coating techniques and testing methods: (1) rare earth metal oxides (Y2O3

Pr2O3 and Sm2O3); (2) mixed rare earth metal oxides (Y2O3-Nd2O3
Y2O3-La2O3); (3) rare earth metal borides (LaB6
YB6); (4) rare earth refractory compounds (La2O3-Fe2O3
La2O3-Co2O3
La2O3-WO3
La2O3-Al2O3
Y2o3-Fe2o3
Y2o3-Co2o3
Y2O3-WO3
Y2O3-A12O3 and Y2O3-Gd2O3-ZrO2); (5) La2S; and (6) LaN.Probable Applications of the rare earth metal compounds and the way for searching new cathode materials are indicated.
