a broadband 0 dB forward wave directional coupler is designed based on the new gap waveguide transmission line technology. The center frequency of the proposed coupler is 30 GHz
which can realize broadband flat 0 dB coupling level. The energy coupling from the main channel to the auxiliary channel is realized by multi coupling slots on the common wall of two adjacent groove gap waveguides. For the convenience of experimental measurement and verification
the transition from groove gap waveguide to standard WR-28 waveguide is designed. Finally
the designed coupler is manufactured and measured. According to the measurement results
the proposed directional coupler working frequency band is 27.1~31.5 GHz and maximum insertion loss is about 0.5 dB
and relative bandwidth is about 14.7% (center frequency is 30 GHz). The simulated result and measurement result agree well with each other
and the correctness of the design method is verified by experiments.
