光纤的偏振模色散对高速光纤通信系统性能的影响越来越引起了人们的注意
对它的测量是必须首先解决的课题.琼斯矩阵特征值法是ITU-T G.650建议的几种光纤PMD(偏振模色散)测量方案中的首选方案.琼斯矩阵特征值法能给出光纤偏振模色散的全面信息
并具有很高的测量精度和测量范围.本文阐述了琼斯矩阵特征值法测量PMD的原理
介绍了基于琼斯矩阵特征值法开发的PMD测量系统和测量试验.该测量系统利用光功率计和步进电机控制的偏振片测量输出光的琼斯矢量
代替了G.650琼斯矩阵特征值法中所建议使用的偏振计
降低了PMD测量系统的成本
并实现了自动测量.
The effect of PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion) to high-speed optic communication system has drawn more and more attention nowadays
and the measurement of PMD is of much importance.ITU-T G.650 Recommendation has recommended several approaches to measure PMD and the Jones Matrix Eigenanalysis Method is regarded as the chief one.Using Jones Matrix Eigenanalysis Method
we can get the most comprehensive information about optic fiber’s PMD
and this method has very high precision and broad measurement range.The principle of Jones Matrix Eigenanalysis Method for measuring PMD is illustrated in this paper
and an automated measuring system based on it is introduced
with some experimental results.Instead of using a polarimeter recommended in G.650
we use a polarizer controlled by a step-up motor to measure Jones optic Vector in this system
which is much cheaper.
