By Integrating the smoothing techniques and placement methods of VBR video on MZ disk

and synthetically optimizing the requirement of disk I/O bandwidth

memory and disk storage space

the paper gives a smoothing retrieval algorithm that minimizes the memory cost and disk retrieval time of peak data rate

and maximizes utilization of disk storage space.A corresponding storage scheme of video object on disk is proposed in this paper too.The results of experiment show the algorithm is efficient.
