Based on the calculation for capacities of equivalent channels

the performance of MLC(Multilevel coding)/MSD scheme with three different set partitioning strategies in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels is simulated.In which BCH codes with different code lengths are chosen as component codes
and 8ASK modulation is used.Simulation results show that UP (Ungerboeck partitioning) set partitioning has the best performance in AWGN channels and BP (Block partitioning) is the best set partitioning strategy in fading channels.According to "capacity rule"
BP is of good robustness in both kinds of channels to realize an optimum MLC system.
