The analysis of the burst-level cell loss rate of buresty traffic in ATM networks has not beensolved completely so far. None of the present algorithms is not only precise and effective

but also convenient andpracticable. So a novel approach to analyze the burst level cell loss rate based on a general ON-OFF scarce modeis presented in this paper for bursty traffic. It is simple with an analytical expression and the simulation showsthat it is very accurate for applications.
