Abstract
a new gas-sampling technique for long-term (lifetime) mass-spectrometric analysis of sealed gas lasers is presented.Using a self-made new valve-ultramini-flow valve of planar type-and a quadrupole mass spectrometric system
the authors investigated the lifetime process of a CO2 gas laser and discovered some meaningful phenomena.It is pointed out that the adpsortion of gas due to the sputtering of the cathode material is the main reason for the failure of laser tube.
