The steepest descent algorithm which varies its step size constantly in seeking its minimum mean-square error is presented. Computer simulation results are presented to illustrate and verify that the VLMS algorithm is superior to the LMS algorithm for any statistic characteristics of noise and the complexity of computation of both algorithms is almost same.
