The electrical field radiated by the unit current in a rectangular waveguide with a short-circuiting plunger is derived by making use of the auxiliary potential function. When the dominant mode TE10 is propagated alone in the rectangular waveguide
expressions for the real and imaginary parts of the input impedance seen by the coaxial line are derived. Theoretical calculation is in close agreement with experimental results.
