The advances in the theory of 2-D digital filtering in recent years are reviewed. 2-D nonrecursive and recursive digital filters are presented

the discussions on their design and implementation are made spearately. Several approaches of testing the stability are treated for 2-D recursive filters. 2-D Kalman filter and it’s implementation are discussed briefly.
