A new theoretical method of analysing open waveguide resonators is given. In order to overcome the difficulty caused by different boundary conditions on the each end of the cavity an unknown separation surface of fields is set up in this method. The analytical solutions of the fields including diffraction output power are obtained in this way. All the theoretical results reached satisfactory agreement with experiments.
