The electromagnetic coupling between an incident plane wave and a conducting cavity with a conducting wire in it through a small hole is studied. Bethe’s small-hole theory and thin wire approximation are applied to simplify numerical calculations. Resonant frequencies
equivalent dipoles over the hole
induced currents on the wire
and electrical fields in the cavity at resonances are derived and calculated in numerical examples.
