Since Dicke’s radiometer came into being
the total power radiometer has almost been eliminated from the high sensitivity radiometers. By means of further analysis
comparision and test
the paper shows that the gain stability of the total power radiometer can be greatly improved with the development of the electronic technology
and its sensitivity greatly enhanced. It is as good as Dieke’s radiometer.This paper introduces the design of the S-band total power radiometer which can be used for calibration of the noise source
and design of its IF amplifier. Recording curves of the stability and sensitivity of the radiometer are also given.
