One of the principal problems in studying the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is the transition of SIW with other types of transmission lines.Recently a taper transition between microstrip line and SIW has been proposed.In this paper
the idea has been extended to more general cases
and several new transition types have been developed
including the direct
concave
and convex transitions
and the transition with multilayers.An experimental study has been made at the C band
which shows that a VSWR less than 1.2 through the band 4.1 to 5.5GHz and an insertion loss better than 0.5dB can be obtained.
