The elliptic curves cryptosystems (ECC) is the most popular public key cryptosystems at present.The hyperelliptic curve cryptosystems (HCC) is a generalization of ECC and the study of HCC has been paid more and more attention by people in recent years.This paper surveys the development and situation of HCC and presents some problems urgenthyneeded to be solved in the theory and implementation of HCC.
